Inspired by classic icons but manufactured like modern day furniture, this cardboard flat packed furniture collection is an ode to classical style and to the material. The construction of the Paper furniture is intelligent and easy to operate. Each component slots into the other which enables one part to bare it’s weight and share it’s strength with the another. There are no screws, no nuts and no bolts. The Paper collection illustrates it’s story with a lacquered paper finish.
“Later, whilst at the academy, I experimented with making products out of paper and cardboard. I created a series of cradles out of old boxes that I glued together, initially due to a lack of money and ease, but then out of fascination.
Working with paper and cardboard became second nature in the years that followed, and furniture and objects made from these materials continue to originate from our studios. It is a wonderfully pure and clean production method.
Moooi probably felt that the time was right when they invited Studio Job to create a collection of paper furniture for the general public.
