Studio Job - Mae West

Studio Job was founded in 1998 by Job Smeets in the renaissance spirit, combining traditional and modern techniques to produce once-in-a-lifetime objects. At once highly specific and yet entirely universal, personally expressive and yet experimental, Studio Job has crafted a body of work that draws upon classical, popular and contemporary design and highly visual and sculptural art.

Work label

Mae West

This collection is named after the classic sex symbol Mae West and refers to Dali’s famous installation of the same name.

The six lamps combine to create a three dimensional trompe-l’oeil complete with iconic Studio Job icons such as the candleholder, chocolate pot, and vase, supplemented with new forms such as a head, a hat, and of course, the surrealist icon the Tit Lamp, a colourful and upbeat scene.
