Studio Job - Banana

Studio Job was founded in 1998 by Job Smeets in the renaissance spirit, combining traditional and modern techniques to produce once-in-a-lifetime objects. At once highly specific and yet entirely universal, personally expressive and yet experimental, Studio Job has crafted a body of work that draws upon classical, popular and contemporary design and highly visual and sculptural art.

The Banana Show

Solo-exhibition ‘drawings and objects’

Bananas are the most popular fruit in the world… a nice reference to the other icons of the Pop Art, the Marilyn’s, the Campbell’s Soups, the Dollars signs, Coca-Cola… distilling the beauty out of the popular is an art form itself. Next to Andy Warhol, The Banana Show also refers to Keith Haring who was artist-in-residence in Knokke where Samuel Vanhoegaerden Gallery is based.
